With regard to the American Sniper commentator: yes, it must be nice to live in a place where such films do not primarily function as political propaganda. Those who live in the US, of course, encounter the film on very different terms: attendance at a screening of the film is very close in its significance to attendance at a neo-Nazi rally. One may appreciate the aesthetic of the shaved male skull and the spectacle of young men shouting around a bonfire but still decide to boycott the event for non-aesthetic reasons.
