How beautiful a post -- thank you!

Nice--and why are you in Iceland exactly?
"A theoretical reflection upon the conditions on the still-mythical dark side of the moon"--surely rather on the *far* side of the moon? Different sides of the moon are dark at different times, so the fact that a given bit of the moon's surface is currently dark doesn't stop it from being examined later; whereas it's always the same side of the moon that's "far," facing away from the earth, and so couldn't be examined until the beginning of space flight.
