Great piece. Feels a bit like reading Christopher Isherwood's "Goodbye to Berlin" in the sense that foreign visitors seem to capture the city much more precisely than its inhabitants. Also interesting is that these plaques are dubbed "Stolpersteine" bei the locals,"tripping stones" in a literal and metaphorical way.
