And Tokyo is so *quiet*.

I don't know why the suicide rate is so high, one is tempted of course to think it is the other side of the coin of clean streets and well-mannered people, but Singapore, I've heard, is also clean and well-mannered: does it have a high suicide rate? (I don't know).

Also, there are margins in Japanese society: Osaka has many more homeless and is much grittier than Tokyo.
