John Leeds

Thanks for convincing me that my excessive Internet use is helping me to realise my full potential as a human being, not to mention saving the planet and fulfilling the Enlightenment Vision.

A vaguely related thought: I used to write electronic music - for amusement not profit - and people would say, 'It's not really music though is it? It's all done by computer?' My reply was that synthesizers close the gap between musical ideas and their realisation. They cut out the lumps of matter (i.e. instruments and hands) that usually have to be put in the correct configuration in order to realise such ideas. I've always liked the idea of computers defying all kinds of material limitations, although obviously the manipulation of matter can have its own appeal (so I’m told).
